     One evening at the dinner table, after visiting their gravely ill daughter in the hospital, Joan Didion’s husband had a heart attack and died. Adapted by the author from her best -selling memoir, this clear-eyed examination of shock and grief with a touch of humor shares one woman’s attempt to make sense of a time when nothing made sense. 13--Famed Peter Cook Performance at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center, located at 450 W. Ohio Street downtown Indianapolis. He will tell two storytelling performances presented by Storytelling Arts of Indiana and the Indiana Historical Society. The first performance, beginning at 2 pm, The Wacky Faces of Peter Cook, is a family oriented show. The second performance, A Feast for the Eyes begins at 7:30 pm for adults.
    Cook is an internationally reputed Deaf performing artist whose works incorporates American Sign Language, pantomime, storytelling, acting, and movement. His work captivates and engages all audiences, whether they are Deaf, hearing-impaired or hearing. If the past is any indication, half his audience will be deaf and the other half hearing. Peter has been featured at the National Storytelling festival in Jonesborough, Tennessee as well as many regional festivals including our very own, Hoosier Storytelling Festival. 
    He has traveled extensively around the country and aboard with Flying Words Project to promote ASL Literature with Kenny Lerner since 1986. Peter has appeared in Live from Off Center’s “Words on Mouth” (PBS) and “United States of Poetry” (PBS) produced by Emmy winner Bob Holman. He has taught at Columbia College where he received the 1997 Excellence in Teaching award.
     The Frank and Katrina Basile Theater is wheelchair accessible and has a state-of-the-art sound system. Tickets for the Family show are $5 per child (ages 5 – 12) and $10 per adult. Tickets for the Saturday night performance are $15 in advance or $18 at the door. THE 101 DALMATIANS MUSICAL also features a surprise grand finale showcasing the tremendous talents of the professional and rescued Dalmatians that will leave audiences cheering!

20—Indiana Association of the Deaf to host 46th Biennial Conference at Gene B. Glick Junior Achievement Education Center, 7435 N. Keystone Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46240 from 8 am to 6 pm. The theme will be “Blazing New Trails Together”. During all day event will be six presentations /workshops, President’s Luncheon, business meeting and By-laws.      Set in a Maine coastal village toward the end of the 19th century, carnival barker Billy captivates and marries naïve millworker Julie. Desperate for money when he learns he will soon be a father, Billy is coerced into being an accomplice to a robbery. Caught and facing the certainty of prison, he takes his own life and is sent “up there”. Billy is allowed to return to earth for one day fifteen years later to make amends to the daughter he left behind. The show is a dramatic testament to the power of love and redemption.
