Jo Ellen had started working as an interpreter at KSD in January 2006.
Jo Ellen Jones Grigsby, wife of Peter Michael Grigsby and a resident of Danville , died Tuesday, May 29, 2007.
Born March 1, 1966, in Birmingham , Ala. , she was the daughter of Mary Jo Bishop Jones of Danville and the late William Elliott Jones. A 1984 graduate of Wyoming High School , Cincinnati , Ohio , she earned a bachelor's degree in education for the deaf at Converse College , Spartanburg , S.C. After teaching for several years in Kentucky and Virginia , she received a bachelor's degree in interpreting for the deaf at Eastern Kentucky University . Her position as a staff interpreter at the Kentucky School for the Deaf fulfilled a long-time goal inspired by her early interest in the deaf and deaf culture in Danville .
In addition to her father, Jo Ellen was preceded in death by her brother, Bruce Elliott Jones.
In accordance to her wishes and so that she might help others, Jo Ellen's vital organs were donated through the Kentucky Organ Donors Association.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 1, at The Presbyterian Church of Danville, 500 W. Main St. , Danville , Ky. The Reverends Jim Stewart, Jay Pasick and Eddie Grigsby will officiate. Burial will be in the Lexington Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
