WRITER, Public Relations, salary range: $36,442 to $58,307. Serves as a writer/journalist for a broad range of print and electronic publications produced by the Public Relations Office, including: “Inside Gallaudet,” the University's online news website; “On The Green,” the campus faculty and staff newsletter; “Family e-news,” the e-newsletter for parents and other family members; “8th and Florida,” the community newsletter; “Gallaudet Today – The Newsletter;” the alumni newsletter; and “Gallaudet Today,” the alumni magazine; works closely with members of the Gallaudet community which includes faculty, teachers, staff, students, and alumni, to identify articles which promote and highlight many of the University's accomplishment.

REQUIRES: Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, communication or a related field. At least two years professional journalistic writing experience. Evidence of excellent news and feature writing skills. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Demonstrated experience as a self-starter. Knowledge of deaf culture and the deaf community. Fluency in American Sign Language.
